Our Baby Pizza turned 3 years old last month!  Our baby is no longer a baby and is getting ready for preschool in the fall!  To celebrate her birthday, we had a small outdoor party at a nearby park.  There was a large playground and an open area that was perfect for our bubbles, chalk, and kite flying.  It was simple and perfect for a 3 year old birthday party.

Weeks before her actual birthday, I was on Amazon quite often looking for gifts that I thought she might enjoy.  My extended family is often asking for suggestions on what to get the girls, so I usually have some ideas that I throw out there for them. It is definitely an added bonus to find things that her 5 year old sister will also enjoy. Here are some of my gift ideas for a preschool age child (3-5 years old).

Wireless Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone

Mr. Pizza and I thought this would be a fun gift for Baby Pizza because she loves to sing.  And let me just say, this karaoke microphone did not disappoint; it has been so fun for Baby Pizza and our whole family.  I just play music off of my phone and the bluetooth mic almost acts like a speakerphone with a quality mic.  This is definitely a great gift for a music lover in the family an fun at any age (including adults).

Dog Piggy Bank

Baby Pizza has asked for a piggy bank every once in a while because Lil’ Pizza was gifted one several years ago. Lil’ Pizza has a porcelain piggy bank so I’m often reminding the girls that they have to be careful when they hold the piggy bank.  I love these piggy banks because Baby Pizza loves dogs and these banks are so adorable. These dog piggy banks are made from soft PVC and is durable and well made, so I don’t have to worry about it breaking. Baby Pizza tied a string around the dog’s neck to make a leash for the first few days but now it is being used for its intended purpose.

Washable Kids’ PaintSketch Pad, Paintbrushes, and Paint Cups

Baby Pizza loves to paint and can stay focused with painting for quite some time. The girls do well with a variety of art mediums, but painting is probably their favorite. Baby Pizza loves to paint every bit of white space on a paper so the thicker paper is very useful to have with the thicker paints.

Pogo Jumper

I haven’t seen the Pogo Jumper in action but it has really great reviews.  It was made by the original pogo stick company and is built so that it is easy enough for a 3 year old to master but can also be used by an adult (up to 250 lbs).  There’s a jump counter so I can imagine this toy being used by the whole family for some friendly competition!

Rainbow Fanny Pack

The girls love their purses.  I don’t have this and really don’t need to add to their collection of bags but how cute is this?  The Cat & Jack brand have so many cute purse options, like this, this, and this.

National Geographic Little Kids Magazine

Lil’ Pizza got this magazine subscription as a gift a couple years ago.  We still have some around the house and Baby Pizza and Lil’ Pizza both enjoy looking at them.  Baby Pizza enjoys looking at the pictures and likes me to read it to her so she can learn about the animals and do the activities.  Now that Lil’ Pizza can read, she enjoys looking at these magazines herself and she is often telling me new and interesting facts about the animals she learns about.

Teepee Tent

The girls like having a small, quiet place to retreat to so I thought this would be a good idea to have in their play area. It’s fairly easy to set up and easy to move around the house if needed. The girls do all sorts of things in there. Sometimes they put a bunch of blankets and pillows in there and get cozy and other times they are using that small space to play restaurant inside.

Ukelele

We have a ukelele and it is so fun to have in the house. Baby Pizza loves to strum it and sing songs. Mr. Pizza taught Lil’ Pizza a few chords and is now able to play  the song, “I Lava You” all on her own. Any kind of instrument is fun to have around the house (I guess you would just want to consider the noise level that you would be okay with). I liked getting this ukelele because it is real, yet affordable. Mr. Pizza plays songs with it often but the girls enjoy it just as much.

Spray, Squirt, and Squeegee Play Set

The kids love to help clean the house….well, at least when they have the kinds of cleaning supplies and equipment adults use. At our home, we have an actual small dustpan, a Swiffer that I made perfect for their height, and a microfiber cloth that the girls sometimes use. However, I could see how fun it would be to have a set of cleaning toys they can use whenever they want and also use for play. These would be great toys to put in a large bucket for water play. Just add some soap and have them wash some toys!

Mercy Watson Boxed Set

Mercy Watson is a pig who loves buttery toast and is always finds herself in an unexpected adventure.  This is a six book series and the books are simple, sweet, funny, and playful.  If you are looking to find a chapter book for an early reader, this is an excellent one to start with.  We have read through this set three times already that I’m surprised we still don’t own this set of books.  It is an engaging and fun series that can capture the mind of a toddler to a young school age child and one that I recommend to a lot of my friends.

Are any of these your favorite items for 3-5 year olds?  What has been a favorite toy or item for that age group?
