If you are like me, then you are still buying Christmas presents. My sisters and parents have been asking for ideas of what to get the girls as well, so this is a list of gift ideas for a 2-year-old, with Baby Pizza in mind. I know that if I were to get Baby Pizza any of these gifts, her almost 5 year old sister would be enjoying them right alongside her too!
1) Princess nightgown – My girls wear a princess nightgown to bed almost every night. Little girls in nightgowns are seriously the cutest. They prefer the short sleeve nightgowns because my girls say they feel more like a princess in them. They just wear them over their regular long sleeve pajama shirt and pants to stay warm.
2) Liquid watercolor – I love experimenting with different art mediums with the girls and age 2 is a great age to branch out and try different types of paint, markers, crayons, and more. Baby Pizza loves to paint and these liquid watercolors are much more vibrant in color than the typical watercolor sets you are used to using with kids. Get these with some reusable cups, brushes and a drawing pad.
3) LEGO DUPLO building toys – I love the younger LEGO options they have for toddlers. There is a range of DUPLO sets out there depending on the number of pieces you want and the price you want to pay.
4) Plush chair – This is an adorable plush animal chair but if you are looking for something more neutral, I also love the Land of Nod chairs (they do have some fun playful ones too) as well as the Pottery Barn Kids chairs. Baby Pizza loves sitting on her chair when she is “reading” her books.
5) Hungry dog piggy bank – Both my girls have an obsession with piggy banks. They often ask me to get the coins out and take turns putting the coins back in the piggy bank slot. I love these electronic piggy banks and have seen a few in action. Baby Pizza is being gifted this item from an aunt and I know she’s going to love “feeding” the dog. Just be sure your little one has supervision when handling small coins or gift this to a child a little older.
6) Play kitchen – If you don’t have a play kitchen and are looking to purchase a big ticket item, I highly recommend it. We purchased this play kitchen for Lil’ Pizza’s first birthday and it is still one of the most used toys in our house. We like this kitchen (a heads up that the assembly will take a couple hours!) but if you are looking for an even simpler look, I love the IKEA play kitchen as well.
7) Zoo friends hand puppet – When Baby Pizza is upset or not responding to me, I will grab one of her stuffed animals or puppets and start talking to her in a different voice and she will respond positively almost 95% of the time. For example, today she refused to come to me to get her diaper changed, but as soon as I whipped out her stuffed animal and asked her to get her diaper changed in the animal voice, she ran over without any hesitation. Now, I can’t promise this “trick” of mine will work on some other toddlers but puppets are still great for pretend play, role play, and just plain fun.
8) Me Reader – We have three sets of the Me Reader at home and both the girls enjoy them. Sometimes, they will bring just the Me Reader into the car and play the different stories without the books. Each set comes with eight books. You’ll be amazed when your little ones start to recite some of the pages of the book all by themselves!
9) Food cutting toy – Whether you have a play kitchen or not, this is a fun food toy to have. Baby Pizza loves that she can can be in charge cutting the food all by herself.
10) ALEX Jr. Tots Art Start – Baby Pizza loves crafting alongside her sister but some of the activities that I do with her older sister are too difficult for Baby Pizz,a which easily can get her frustrated. I love that this box has everything you need to do 6 art activities. No glue needed. The collage boards are sticky so you can stick the different art materials on there. There are sticker activities and crayons in the box too. I like that this is more about the process than a “picture perfect” end result, although I can see Baby Pizza being quite proud of her work.
. . . . .
