Shortly after the 3-month mark comes the 100th day celebration – a Korean tradition that I barely knew anything about, but have come to enjoy celebrating over the years through friends and family. The extravagance of this celebration can go many different ways. I’ve seen very fancy 100th day celebrations and I’ve seen simple family dinners. With Toddler Pencil, I was so out of it with the postpartum period that I barely did anything at all! I simply went over to my parents’ house and had lunch with my immediate family.

But since I bounced back much more quickly the second time, I had more energy to do something special with Baby Pencil. I decided to buy a few decorative things from Home Goods, including a sign that said “HOPE,” which is her middle name. We picked up some baby’s breath flowers from the market for a nice touch. I also gathered some random items around my sister’s home and we had a casual photoshoot with our iPhones on the dining table. With Instagram’s filters and some cropping, we were able to get some adorable photos! Here was the informal setup:

From Home Goods: the HOPE sign, the wood candles, the background star, the angel wings, the gold tray
From our actual home: the decorative pillows, the curtain, the gold card holder, the furry blanket, glass vases, leftover wood colored filling

And with some cropping and lighting changes, some of our pictures! (Don’t mind the doggie bed right under the table, our dogs were just a couple of feet away.)

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to take pictures myself but the photos were turning out better than I expected. Under the furry blanket we had Kleenex boxes, baby wipes and diaper rash cream bins holding up the decorations! I was also in my pajama bottoms and had not showered for days. This is how much you can fool people with iPhone pictures these days!

I really was hoping to get just ONE great photograph for memory sake to mark these milestone but I ended up with several! You can really do a lot with iPhone cameras these days. It doesn’t take much to take one good photograph for a sweet milestone!
