StarCakes will be starting Pre-K in late August where he will be attending a half-day program three days a week with other 4-year-olds. After reading through his classroom handbook, the nerd in me is ready for back-to-school shopping! I started making a list of the items that I want to get for him before school starts. Below are the items that I am considering purchasing to get him ready for his first day.
1) Angry Birds backpack: My sweet boy is a huge Angry Birds fan so I think he will get a kick out of this backpack featuring one of his favorite characters.
2) Bento Lunchbox: For the half-day program he will have to bring his own snack from home. I love that this bento lunchbox is easy for him to open, is big enough to hold three different food items, and is small and light enough for him to carry in his backpack. I’ll consider getting him a larger lunchbox once he’s eating his lunches at school.
3) Hooded jacket: The weather in San Diego is pretty moderate year-round, but I still appreciate a good jacket that can last all seasons. This one with the space-themed print is super cute and looks water-proof too!
4-7) Comfortable t-shirts: He loves sea animals so he will love these sting ray and octopus shirts. This boombox shirt would be great for picture day and the Minion-lover in him will like this shirt.
8-9) Pants & Jeans: StarCakes is a skinny kid so I usually try to get him the skinny fit in pants and jeans. I also want to make it as easy for him as possible when going to the bathroom, so getting him pants that he can easily pull up and not have to snap, button or zip are a plus.
10) Underwear: In all honesty, sometimes he’s just more comfortable going commando under his shorts and cloth pants. But I do want him to get in the habit of having to put on undies when he starts going to school. These cute ones with sea animals are definitely right up his alley.
11) Socks: I’m a sucker for cute socks with fun designs!
12) Velcro shoes: StarCakes is already able to put his shoes on by himself so these will be easy for him to manage if ever he needs to remove and then put on his shoes during the school day.
13) Art smock: Like all kids, mine are super messy when they are feeling artsy. That being said, a smock (or two) would be a great addition to his art supply bin!
14-18) Art supplies: StarCakes is required to bring some paints, markers, card stock, paper, and glue. So we will be getting those items for him as well.
I am so excited for him to start school, make friends, learn new things and be on his own for a bit. How are you getting your little ones ready for going back to school?
