It’s Holy Week here in the Philippines, which is a predominantly Catholic country, so many businesses are closed from tomorrow (Holy Thursday) through Sunday (Easter). It’s also Spring Break in many parts of the US, so it’s been a pretty quiet week overall.
We’ll be organizing an Easter egg hunt, Easter egg decorating, and Easter arts and crafts for this Sunday. We try to keep many of our American traditions going here, but often we’re the only ones that celebrate them! What will you be doing to celebrate Easter?

The link to the article about raising emotionally resilient children is the wrong link. Can you repost it?

I read another article (more detailed than the one above) on the lunch shaming issue and was shocked at how children can be singled out and treated due to their parents falling behind on payments. I remember how embarrassed I was just to be reminded by the cashier that my parents were late sending in their payment. It must be soul-crushing to have to work for scraps in front of the other students.
I pulled up the school nutrition webpage for our county and found that half of the schools in our district are participating in a pilot program that simply provides breakfast and lunch free to all students. Especially in schools where many students would qualify for free or reduced meals, they figure eliminating the typical administrative costs is enough savings to just feed everyone. Sounds like a saner and more humane approach. I hope it works.
