My kiddos have a three and half year age gap, and it’s difficult to find toys they can play with together. When one kiddo becomes engrossed in a toy, the other kiddo rips the toy away and havoc ensues. I’ve learned to hide many of our toys in the attic because of the squabbling.

A few months ago, we started pulling BeBe’s old toddler toys out of the attic for our little guy. Of course, he loved the toys. Surprisingly, BeBe still loves playing with these toys too. These are the toys my kiddos love to play with together, which is adorable to watch and it give me precious quiet time!

Toddler and Preschooler Play Together Toys

1) IKEA Train Set –  This has been both my kiddos’ favorite toy as a toddler. They both have learned “up” and “down” from moving the little trains on the track. I purchased extra tracks and BeBe builds elaborate train tracks around the room, and then our little guy moves his trains over the tracks she built.  It’s really affordable, and the quiet it buys me is priceless!

2) Mega Blocks First Builders Big Building Bag, 80 Piece – Our little guy is learning how to pull apart and put the pieces together. He’s fascinated watching BeBe build, but loves to tear things down. She has learned to build one quick tower he can destroy, and then another one for her. It’s a game for her to see how high she can build it before he tries to destroy the tower, and they both find it hilarious.

3) Little People Barn and Little People Bus – Our little guy loves the barn animals. He loads them up on the bus and drives them around the floor, and BeBe loves to play farmhouse with her baby brother and teach him the animal sounds.

4) Tent – This was a Christmas gift for BeBe at two years-old. She has loved sitting in there with stuffed animals and books, but now she brings her baby brother in there also. They arrange their toys, or sometimes set up the opening so they can crawl through the tent into my closet and have forts. They can play in the tent for an hour without any whining!

5) Tunnel – BeBe loved this as a toddler and still does. We also needed it for our little guy’s therapy, so it’s a double win.

6) Stacking Boxes with Cars –  This is meant to be a baby and toddler toy, but BeBe loves building towers and he loves to smack them down. He’s watched her do this enough times that he knows how to build them. As a bonus, some of the cars fit on our Ikea train track, so it works for both toys.
