It is so nice to take an entire day to appreciate all the mothers out there on Mother’s Day!  I wanted to make a Mother’s day project that children could participate in creating, and these crepe paper flowers made out of tracings of their tiny hands were perfect!

To make them, you’ll need to gather up a few supplies:

1) Pencil
2) Crepe paper in the colors of your choice
3) Floral Stems with wire (found in the floral section at the craft store)
4) Floral Tape
5) Scissors

Step One

Fold the crepe paper over a few times, and trace the child’s hand onto the paper with the pencil.

Step Two

Cut out the traced hands.  You can do various colors and various sized hands of your little ones.

Step Three

Gather up your little crepe paper hands.

Step Four

Start piecing together some of the hands.  Feel free to trim the bottoms to get the size of flower you would like.

Step Five

Start placing other colors if you prefer and layer the tiny hand cut outs, and keep pinching the bottom.

Step Six

Keep layering the little hands to get the size of flower you desire.

Step Seven

Adjust and bend the paper petals to to make them look more natural.

Step Eight

Keeping the paper pinched at the ends, take your floral stems with the wire, and start to wrap the wire around tightly.

Step Nine

Wrap the bottom with floral tape to cover up the wire.

Adjust the petals a bit, and place it in a vase with a little note from the little hands that helped create it, and deliver it to the special mothers in your life!
