Ok, I’m going to stop apologizing for being late with these updates. At this point in life, better late than never!!

The kids have still managed to dodge major illness this winter, although I’ve been knocked out with several illnesses at once this whole past week. February is over, which means we are March-ing (heh) away from cold and flu season, huzzah! I can’t wait for the warmer weather so we can start spending chunks of time outdoors as a family.

At 7 months LMW is still a big girl and still not sitting up on her own consistently. If you sit her up, she’ll sit but eventually topple over. I’m trying not to worry since she is both heavy and tall, and everything else seems on track. She gets up on her hands and knees, rocks back and forth, and scoots backward just fine, so that is all along the same timing as Wagon Jr. when he was this age. She also does these crazy planks, with just the tips of her toes and her hands on the ground while her butt goes straight up in the air. Too cute.

She’s babbling almost every day (mostly ba-bas, da-das, and some ma-mas) and still loves to blow raspberries. Lately she has been so over-the-top adorably giggly and smiley. I’ve started singing Martina McBride’s “Happy Girl” to her because it just fits so well.

Oh, watch me go
I’m a happy girl, everybody knows
That the sweetest thing that you’ll ever see
In the whole wide world, is a happy girl!

Eating

So we are officially into solids! Well, pureed baby food, that is. She has almost a whole 4 oz jar of veggies and some oatmeal cereal with water or breastmilk usually twice a day. She loves sweet potatoes, likes carrots, and somewhat tolerates peas. When she’s hungry and it’s sweet potatoes, she lunges mouth-first towards the spoon for every bite! I’ve ordered a set of fruits so I can’t wait to see how she reacts to those. They will probably blow her mind. We are not a baby food making family, so we order Earth’s Best organic baby foods from Amazon’s Subscribe and Save program.

I think the worst of the teething is over (til those molars come in next year or so) so she’s been taking her bottle just fine and letting us know when she’s done. We’ve been on medium flow nipples for a while now, but I’m debating switching her up to fast flow soon. Her usual bottle is anywhere between 4-6 oz but her bedtime bottle can be as much as 9 oz if it’s been a while since her last bottle.

LMW is officially a non-poop monster. She poops once every 4-5 days, if we’re lucky. Now that we’re consistent with the solids, it seems that she’s pooping a tiny poop once a day or so. But I’m not quite sure how that will end up going since it’s so early. We’ll see… it’s so strange to have the other extreme. Wagon Jr. pooped between EVERY feeding and we had to contend with constant diaper rash because of all the pooping. LMW is the opposite– no poops for days, then catastrophic explosions!

Sleeping

My baby girl is consistently sleeping through the night! I hate announcing it anywhere for fear of jinxing myself, but she has been so crazy good that I can’t help but brag. She goes down for bed after a bath and bottle every night between 6:30 and 7:30pm, usually has a few little night wakings where she cries for a bit, then finds her blankie and falls back asleep, then wakes the next morning any time between 6:30 and 7:30am. Sometimes she’ll wake up around midnight, roll around in her crib and scratch at the breathable bumpers, and fall back asleep after about 45 minutes of playing. If she does this, she’ll usually sleep in til at least 8am! That’s really lovely, especially on weekends.

Her napping is still usually one great nap and one shorter nap each day. She falls asleep in the car and stroller beautifully (once she even fell asleep in the stroller when we were at a restaurant. She was just sitting there, no movement, no bottle, and she just passed out!) which is awesome for this family that’s always on the go.

Here’s an example of a typical day now:

7:00am – wake up, 4 oz baby food
8:00am – 5 oz bottle
10:00am – 3 oz bottle, first nap (between 1-2 hours)
1:00pm – 5 oz bottle
3:00pm – 3 oz bottle, second nap (between 30 mins – 2 hours)
5:00pm – 4 oz baby food
6:00pm – bath, 8 oz bottle, bedtime

Looking at that schedule, I want to raise my arms and cheer. I could really live with this.

Now that WJ is over 3 years old, my updates about him will be quicker!

WJ is goofy, goofy, goofy. He’s so goofy that it’s hard to get things done. He is great at following directions, but he does love to say “no.” His favorite color is pink (his favorite My Little Pony is Pinkie Pie!) and his favorite TV show is Super Why, which is fine with us since it’s all about spelling! Eating is still a little dicey in our house, but we’re trying to relax about it and just do our job by serving him new and healthy foods every day.

Sibling Love

WJ and LMW are getting along so beautifully. WJ loves having her around and embraces her as part of our daily routine. He is so observant these days. One day we were using the Magic Bullet to make smoothies, and LMW started crying at the loud noise. The next morning WJ said “LMW scared of the big loud noise from the smoothie cup.” Then when LMW came downstairs after waking up, he ran to her and said “The loud smoothie cup noise is all done, Baby LMW, it’s all done!”

That’s it from the Wagon house this month!
