A couple weekends ago, two sweet friends threw the cutest baby shower for the Babies Blue. The theme was “A Tea for Two: Baby Boys, that is!”
The hostesses planned the most adorable tea, complete with scones, tea sandwiches, several choices of tea, and lots of other yummy treats. They used the empty tea canisters for flower arrangements–such a good idea!
The babies received so many thoughtful gifts, from a My Little Snugabunny Bouncer to diapers to huge stack of adorable clothes, sleepers, and blankets. I came away feeling very loved and much more prepared for these little men.
Blankets crocheted by my 91-year old grandmother, who was an identical twin herself.
In addition to some local friends and family, many of our friends from work came, including two of my former bosses. I was flattered to have two former bosses who still like me enough to come to a baby shower for me! :)
Babies’ first Ralph Lauren from my former boss.
One of my favorite details of the shower was the “Wishes for Baby” sheets that all the guests filled out. It was such a fun idea, and Mr. Blue and I loved reading through everyone’s different wishes. We are going to save all of the Wishes papers for the babies to look at someday.
It was the perfect way to celebrate with friends, and I’m even more excited for our boys’ arrival now. As an added perk, it gave my mom a great excuse to come to town for a week, attend the shower, and help with a multitude of baby projects.
As you can see, the baby bump is getting quite large and uncomfortable, so I’m very glad that we had the shower at 28 weeks. Any later and I would have been pretty miserable trying to move around, much less keep my knees together like a lady when I was sitting down!
Did you have a baby shower? Was there a theme?

Oh my gosh, I love the blankets from your grandma, what a great keepsake for them. That is so special. For my twins we had a pirate theme since I found a nursery set with two little pirate boys on it. It looks like you had a lovely day!!!

Love the theme, and that’s so sweet your grandmother crocheted those blankets. Extra sentimental since she was a twin herself!

My aunt did “Wishes for Baby” for my shower and it is one of my favorite keepsakes for my son. Its my new go-to “game” when I am part of planning for a friend or relative’s shower.

What an ADORABLE theme! LOVE the blankets from your grandma – how sweet is that! And the baby’s first Ralph Lauren – so cute! You look gorgeous and glowy too!
I think our showers were the same weekend! We had a very girly “star” theme, I posted on the boards after the shower.

Your shower is absolutely gorgeous…. my fantasy shower! or just an every day lunch.
I absolutely love those blankets from your grandma. My grandma crocheted blankets and hats for both my kids and I treasure them so much.

Such a cute theme! I have that piggy too, love him
My theme was simply girly and pink, but at a baseball stadium because it was coed. Perfect for us.

Hehehe, we threw a shower for a girlfriend at 35 weeks and you have no idea how hard it was to find a photo of her sitting like a lady to pass along to her family who couldn’t attend! It really is impossible to do after a certain point.
I love the tea for two theme, so adorable. Your mom is so cute, is she so excited? Are these guys the first grandbabies? Will she come to stay for a while when they’re born? My mom was here before we left the hospital and stayed for a glorious month. We were soooo lucky!

@mrs. wagon: I’m almost 31 weeks now-crazy! The shower was at 28, though. Time flies (sort of) when you’re growing babies!
@artbee: I totally want the pig! They change it for whatever event is going on at their house. I always look to see what the pig says!
@Mrs. Stroller: My mom is super excited, though she actually has 3 (and a fourth will arrive any day now) granddaughters already. She told me the other day that her “arms are starting to ache to hold these little boys!” She’s pretty adorable. She’ll definitely be coming down at least during the week for a while after DH goes back to work. And my MIL will be around some, too. They are the first grandbabies on DH’s side, so they are super, duper excited, too.

That looks soooo awesome and cute! So much love for babies
We had the same wish cards at my shower. So many people finished “I hope you respect…” with “your parents”! Just curious if you had the same thing?

@sslm: Haha! Yes, that was definitely the most common answer! We also got a few, “I hope you respect . . . the law.” I guess that makes sense because 90% of people in the room worked in the legal field.
