I wouldn’t say I believe in karma, but I definitely believe in the power of random acts of kindness!  I have a little tradition of sending my close newly pregnant friends a “Yay! You’re pregnant!” care package.  I usually put in a variety of pregnancy related items and a cute card.  During my pregnancy, I’ve been on the receiving end of several really lovely gestures, and I’m now even more committed to doing something kind for my pregnant friends. Receiving some unexpected bit of kindness makes me feel really treasured and reminds me that I’m not the only one who thinks this is a miraculous time in my life.  Here are a few ideas for every budget to send some love to your favorite preggo!

A Card

Who doesn’t like getting real mail that’s not a bill or advertisement!?  Just a sweet card can be the perfect way to let a friend know that you’re thinking about her and that you are sharing in her excitement.  Plus, with all those hormones running through her body, she’s sure to tear up.  Trust me on this one: it’s happened every time someone sends me a card in the last 6 months!

Pregnancy Care Package

There are a million and one things that you can put in a pregnancy care package depending on your budget.  For really close friends, I usually send a pregnancy journal, a bella band, Preggie Pops, stretch mark cream, a few things specifically suited to them, and a card.  For someone who isn’t quite so close, I might just put a pregnancy journal, Preggie Pops, and a card.  One of my besties, who was already pregnant at the time, sent me a super sweet box full of pregnancy goodness.  It included a children’s book, pregnancy journal, some Carter’s onesies, Preggie Pops, stress relief bath salts, lip balm, Kleenexes, and a card full of her advice for different pregnancy symptoms that tied into the items she sent.  LOVED it!
A Groupon Pedicure

Several months into my pregnancy, I got an email from Groupon letting me know that a co-worker had gifted me a Groupon for a pedicure.  It said, “For the pregnant princess and her soon to be tired tootsies!”  It was such a thoughtful gesture, which I appreciate even more now that I know how difficult it has become to actually reach my toes!  A Groupon, Living Social deal, etc. is genius because you can get more bang for your buck.  I see manicures, pedicures, etc. frequently for $10-20.  Pregnancy can be a beautiful time of life, but it’s not always easy to feel beautiful during it, so a little pampering can go a long way.

Massage/Spa Gift Certificate

Recently, I saw an email in my work inbox that started with “noreply . . .”  I almost deleted it thinking it was spam, but thankfully, I glanced at the body of the email and discovered this:

I asked the people whom I’m closest to if they knew anything about it, but no one did.  I have absolutely no idea who sent me this, but I could not be more excited about it.  It’s to one of my favorite local spas, and just thinking about the prenatal massage I’ll get with it makes me want to cry with sweet joy  Anyone who has experienced the aches and pains of pregnancy knows that a spa gift-certificate is a priceless gift to a pregnant body!

Maternity Store Gift Certificate

Maternity clothes aren’t cheap, so I certainly didn’t want to blow my budget buying a huge wardrobe of things I would only wear for a few months.  A gift card, even for $20, would be so fun because I could add something new to my rotation of clothes that I wear every. single. week.

Whatever it is, whether it’s a card in the mail or a spa gift certificate, just knowing that someone has been thinking of me always perks me up and makes me excited all over again about pregnancy.

What would you enjoy receiving while pregnant?
