1) hand drawn chalk tree via A Legg Up; 2) chalk decal tree via Uppercase Living; 3) washi tape tree; 4) yarn, washi tape, ornament, and Christmas card tree via ellinpellinkof; 5) Christmas card tree via homelife; 6) advent calendar/Christmas tree via Martha Stewart
1) cardboard Christmas tree, 2) DIY cardboard Christmas tree via Instructables, or make your own with this template from Martha Stewart; 3) gray & red tree decal from Leo Little Lion; 4) circle tree decal from Tiny Me
Would you try any of these child-friendly alternative Christmas trees?

I made the flat felt tree. We put it up yesterday and my 14 month old likes it. I like that it was easy and inexpensive to make, it’s reusable and it will store ver easily.

Thanks for this post! We were not planning to put up a tree this year due to toddler and being out of town for half the month, but DD is so disappointed. I think I will try one of these instead!

Thanks for mentioning my tree.
I have to say that I’m in love with gray & red tree decal from Leo Little Lion. So cute and different!

These are amazing!!! We were just discussing how sad it is to not have a tree because Cobi would easily pull it on top of himself. I’ll have to look into these

So pretty and creative!! Back in 1985 when I was 5 years old, my mom made the most unforgettable tree out of silver tinsel outlined on the wall! (Similar to the ones with strung lights above). We lived in Miami at the time, so real trees were hard to come by… it was beautiful!

Cute! We just did a little 4-footer decorated with child-friendly ornaments. Little Y likes to point out the ornaments and touch them, but he doesn’t yank them or try to topple anything. If we had the room, we could get away with a normal tree without glass balls, I think.

i LOVE these!
just wanted to mention that one or two of the links are incorrect, ex. the hand drawn chalk tree is from A Legg Up, etc
thanks for the round up!

These are all super cute! I saw a cardboard one at Ikea the other day that looks like #1 in the bottom set–they’re on clearance for $10 if anyone is hunting for one. I love the advent tree made with numbered books!

Oh man… I love love love SO many of these! While we have a traditional tree, I’m now considering another “non-traditional” tree as well.

thank you so very much for these resources. We lost our Christmas Tree due to a flood in our apartment and mice in our outdoor shed, so we’ll be using one of these for a change this year! I think the kids will enjoy it more anyway and I wont be so worried about broken ornaments etc!

I love the DIY felt toddler tree and advent ornament calendar by Confessions of a sewing addict but I have not been able to find the pattern for it and the ornaments that included. Can you email me the pattern to preschoolpam@juno.com
Thanks

Why not just teach your child not to touch the tree. That is what all parents used to do.
