There have been several requests to do app reviews here on Hellobee, so today we’re featuring Talking Tom, a free app I learned about through my friend (and new mama of 2) Stephanie.
Talking Tom repeats everything you say in a funny voice. It enables toddlers to hear themselves speak, which is really helpful when they’re learning how to talk. Charlie thinks it’s hilarious!
Other things you can do with Talking Tom include:
– pet his head or body and he’ll purr
– poke or hit him until he gets knocked out (teaches children to play nice with pets)
– pull his tail
– have him drink milk, pass gas, scratch the screen with his claws, try to eat a bird, and throw a pie (there’s an option to turn off violent features)
– save your session and share it on Facebook or Youtube
There are many other free versions of Talking Tom, including Talking Tom 2, Talking Santa, and Talking Ben the Dog. Talking Tom is a free app available for the iphone, ipad, and android, but there are also paid options to customize Tom and have him do more things.
Have you played Talking Tom?

Yes! Our 5 week-old was squalling for no reason that we could figure out, so my husband started using Tom, at first it was comic relief for us, but then Cam started looking at it and stopped crying!

OMG! Talking Tom is HILARIOUS! My son started imitating him and hitting his forehead and then saying, “ooh ooh star!!!!” Because he likes to hit Talking Tom’s forehead multiple times until he falls down and then you see stars after he falls down. I love it!

Yes, my daughter mostly likes to hit him but doesn’t like to talk. Haha. So not sure if she is learning anything from that app! Oh well, it kills a few minutes from time to time.

avery likes talking tom, but honestly there are way too many ads and side buttons, and avery is always pressing them by mistake and she ends up leaving the screen and i catch her just when she’s about to purchase all these random things, or she looks at me helplessly becasue she can’t get back to talking tom. i prefer apps like peekaboo barn – she’s able to play it forever without ending up somewhere else.
