I really enjoy making every last dollar stretch, and finding creative ways to do so is my most favorite challenge. I’ve shared a few of my often used tips on how I stretch my dollar when it comes to my little ones’ clothes – here are three more tips that never steer me wrong.
I love the braces that come with pants, but really the pants are basic with an added cute bonus. Why not buy one pair that comes with braces, and then make it work on all his pants. Buy a great pair of pants with braces from Little Vida, Zara or H&M (in store).
I had the hardest time finding knee highs when my girl was a baby. They are pretty easy to find in toddler sizes, but those fit up to her waist. Buying socks a few sizes too big worked like a charm. If you have a toddler girl, you can buy great knee highs from: Osh Kosh, Crewcuts, or H&M (in store).
Personally I love a good pair of boyfriend jeans, and think they are beyond adorable on my little girl – but I think ‘brother jeans’ just sounds better (and I don’t even want to start thinking about her being old enough to have a boyfriend). We started buying her skinnies a size or two too large – perfect brother jeans till she grows into the skinny style. Or she will wear a pair of her brothers old skinny jeans – they don’t quite fit as slim as girls jeans, so they are perfect! Our favorite skinny jeans for boys that make great ‘brother jeans’ are from: The Gap, and H&M (in store).
Do you have any tips you like to use to make your kids clothes last even longer? Which of the three tips do you think you might use?

the skinny jeans are clever! Although they might not stay up on her skinny bum

I would totally use the suspender trick if I had a little boy, but I don’t.
I also like to buy larger sized clothes and wear them now. My current favorite is to dress LO (20 months) in a size 4T tank top (with or without a cute sash/belt) to make a cute casual summer dress. When it gets colder, I’ll probably add a long sleeve undershirt and some leggings to winterize the outfit.

I always buy clothes a size big (socks too!) so we can get lots of wear out of them.
Last winter I bought LO a puffy coat in 2T so she can wear it again this winter. Maybe next too? hA. maybe not.
I also love dresses because she can wear them as tunics and shirts.

@Mrs. Superhero: I should have specified, it only works with jeans that have the adjustable inside waist – tighten them as tight as they will go!

@Red: Oh! Great one! We by accident did this a few times (I bought the wrong size!), happy accident!

@chopsuey119: She might! My son wore a winter jacket for 3 years, he swam in it the first year – but he was warm!:)
