When it comes to doing my hair in the morning, I fall into the ponytail rut way too often. It’s quick, easy and in the heat of the summer, it keeps me cool – I have chopped my hair too many times to count just to kick my butt out of the ponytail rut. This time, instead of heading for a drastic haircut to shake me from my lazy hair habits, I’ve been forcing myself to try new hairstyles. I’ve gathered up 10 pretty, pretty easy updo tutorials – great for everyday. These shouldn’t take much more time then your everyday ponytail, so hopefully we can kick the ponytail habit together!
1. The Rope Bun – a little twist on the basic bun. 2. Perfect Top Knot – easy-peasy and looks so chic.
3. Three Twisted Buns – simple but a big statement. 4. French Roll Twist & Pin – the right about of style.
5. Gibson Roll – simply classic style. 6. Chestnut Bun – just add a little flip and tuck to your pony.
7. Mermaid Braid – easy as a regular side-braid with a tiny twist. 8. Milkmaid Braids – all you need is five minutes for this pretty style.
9. Messy Side Braid – great for a casual summer day. 10. Sleek Side Parted Pony – a pony with a bit of flair.
Do you find yourself falling into the ponytail rut in the summer months? Which easy updo is your favorite?

LOVE! I’ve always wanted to try the milkmaid braid… but my hair is so thick that I haven’t tried. Most days it’s def in a bun so I’ll def have to note this for future mama days!

My go-to quick styles are a sock bun (on top or low and off to the side) and a fish bone side-braid. Super quick,, and people always ask how I did it. I’m going to try 3, 4 and 9.

this is a great post! love finding new things to do with my hair. i tried out the gibson today, and mine was definitely a lot messier than the pic, but still turned out well.

I did #9 today and it’s super cute! My hair is only shoulder length so I could only double knot it, but then secured with bobby pins and hairspray, it has lasted all day and actually looks quite chic!
