It’s interesting thinking about how much the contents of my diaper bag have changed. At first, this list wouldn’t have been complete without at least a couple burp cloths, nursing pads, Lanolin, two extra onesies, and a muslin swaddle. At 9 months, though, I have to think less about puking, diaper blowouts, and nursing problems and more about solids and keeping the little guy entertained.

  1. Skip Hop Duo Deluxe – This is the same diaper bag I’ve been carrying since Baby Y was born. It definitely didn’t hurt that I found it at TJ Maxx for half price! I wouldn’t recommend it for more than one kid, but I like the variety of pockets, and it’s easy to clean. I’ve been longing for something a bit more stylish lately (ahem, Storksak Elizabeth, ahem) but this has gotten the job done.
  2. Old Navy onesie and jersey pants – We left behind the days of poopsplosions awhile back (yaaaaaaay) but a comfy spare outfit is still a good idea, especially when your child is on a bib strike.
  3. Wet Ones Antibacterial Hand Wipes Travel Pack – Handy for wiping down tables and high chairs when we’re out and about.
  4. Baby Buddy Secure-a-Toy – Useful for keeping toys from constantly hitting the floor when Baby Y is in a high chair, shopping cart, or stroller.
  5. Huggies Wipes Travel Case – Filled with Pampers Sensitive wipes … because I’m a rebel like that.
  6. Sophie the Giraffe – Sophie is still the teether par excellence of our household, so she usually comes along on outings.
  7. Munchkin Diaper Bag Dispenser – Because you never know when you may have to hold on to a total stink bomb before being able to dispose of it properly.
  8. Skip Hop Pacifier Pocket and Nuk pacifiers – The pacifier holder was a gift; while I definitely wouldn’t call it necessary, it’s nice to know where pacifiers are at all times in case of emergency!
  9. Hot Kid Organic Baby Mum-Mums – We have these or puffs on hand at all times. We used to carry a couple of purees and disposable spoons, too, but now that Baby Y prefers table food, we no longer bother.
  10. Neat Solutions Bibsters – These got us through most of the puree stage, though now they are suffering a similar fate as the Table Toppers – ripped off almost immediately!
  11. Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes – A good go-to toy for distracting an irritable baby. Ours just broke. D’oh!
  12. Bebe Au Lait nursing cover – I usually nurse in the car if we’re out, but I still keep this on hand just in case.
  13. Sesame Street Table Topper Disposable Stick-on Placemats – These have been great for restaurants, but full disclosure: Baby Y has started ripping them off the table with glee, making the wipes that much more important.
  14. Pampers Cruisers – We’ve been a Pampers family from the beginning. Right now, Baby Y is always in either Cruisers or Swaddlers. Pricier than other brands, yes. But he’s never gotten diaper rash, and buying in bulk via Amazon Mom has made them pretty competitively priced.
  15. Maclaren Quest Sport Stroller – We needed something light and easy to fold that could be shoved into the car, but we wanted Baby Y to be comfortable. No complaints about this workhorse except that the buckle can be hard to undo sometimes.
