Charlie’s recent antics in Olive’s tub got me to thinking about baby bathtubs! Charlie used a First Years Infant to Toddler Tub with Sling until he was about 8 months old, when he wanted to stand up during his baths. We then transitioned him to the One Step Ahead Secure Transitions Inflatable Tub, which enabled him to sit or stand. Finally around 14 months we got a bath mat and transitioned him to the regular tub. I can’t wait until Olive is old enough to take a bath with Charlie at the same time!
Here is our roundup of the best baby tubs!
1) 4moms Cleanwater Collection ($89) – The one thing that I hate about baths is that you’re sitting in your own dirty, soapy water! When I take a bath, I always rinse off with the shower afterwards. 4moms, the company behind the Origami stroller and the Mamaroo Swing, has designed a tub to be used with running water, so that your baby is always sitting in clean water. It also comes with a spout cover that has a thermometer on it, so you always know the water temperature. At $89 it’s the priciest tub on our guide (but probably the coolest).
2) First Years Infant to Toddler Tub with Sling ($15.99) – We used this tub for both Charlie and Olive and have been totally happy with it. The sling is great for supporting even the tiniest newborns.
3) Primo Infant Bath Seat ($12) – Suction cups hold this bath seat secure to your sink or tub. It won’t last as long as the other baby tubs, but it’s easy to use, easy to clean and as affordable as it gets!
4) Leahco Bath Pad ($19.99) – We started off using this as a bathtub alternative for Charlie. It’s a great little pad to give a sponge bath! It also floats in the bath water, and you don’t have to worry about dealing with a slippery plastic tub. Eventually we used it as a lounger — it was actually one of our most used baby items! We also had the Boppy lounger, but vastly preferred this because it was flatter. Charlie laid on this on top of our kitchen table for the first couple months of his life.
5) Tummy Tub ($38.50) – This bucket like tub is designed to be similar to the mother’s womb, so that baby feels safe and warm. It’s very popular in Europe, and can be used from birth on up.
6) Munchkin Inflatable Duck Tub ($11.59) – This is an awesome transition tub when your baby doesn’t want to lay in an infant tub anymore, but isn’t ready for the regular bath tub yet. It’s also great for travel, and who doesn’t love ducks?
7) Primo Eurobath ($24.95) – This is one of the most popular baby bathtubs out there because infants can lay down, while older babies can sit up. The only reason I didn’t purchase this tub was because it’s huge! It does however have a hook if you have the storage space to hang it.
8) Ginsey Rubbermaid Bathmat ($16.40) – Once Charlie was was ready for the regular bathtub, I got a large bathmat. It’s a good idea to have a bathmat even if you’re using a transitional inflatable tub. You have to remove this everyday however, otherwise you’ll eventually find mold and mildew on the bottom.
9) Easywalker Flexibath ($39.90) – This is great tub for babies and toddlers that can sit up. I’ve often felt that we wasted so much water filling our tub for little old Charlie. This tub is stylish, collapsible, and the perfect size for your little tot.
10) PUJ Tub ($39.99) – The PUJ is a foldable tub for young infants designed to be used in your sink. I tried one out with Olive, but I preferred a regular infant tub which allowed more of her body to be covered in water. But this is a great option for those who have limited space, and I know many moms who swear by it!
11) One Step Ahead Secure Transitions Inflatable Tub – ($19.99) – Once Charlie was pulling up to stand in the tub around 8 months, we knew we had to get another tub. Charlie really loved this tub (warning baby butt nudity), and we traveled quite a bit with it. One time we even bathed him in the living room in it for fun!
Which infant tub did you use?

Wow #1 is a lot cheaper than I thought!
I forget which brand we have, but our infant tub looks like #2.
Little girl started making a wild mess around 3-4 months, so we transitioned her to the tub. Just put a towel pillow down, filled the tub 2-3 inches and laid her down.
Now she sits up in the tub (usually dh bathes with her)

I bought #2 and #3 but never used 3. I thought I would bathe her in the sink and use that but I never did.
Right now we use #11 still at 20 months. I like that I am using less water and it’s easier to clean that then the bath tub because I scrub it after every use.

We had the cheapest little tub you could ever imagine for Little Jacks. We donated it to someone in need because we never really cared for it. I think we’re going to try something new this time around. Thanks for the recommendations!

We use #2. It’s great because lengthwise it’s the perfect size to hang from the edge of our tub so we don’t have to bend over as far.

Wow, I never knew there were so many options.

You missed the one that we’re going to be using:

I like it b/c it’s super cute, and it’s basically a big giant sponge that’s shaped like a flower. It conforms to any sink, and you can use it for cushioning in the tub for older babies too.

We have and love the Fisher Price whale tub … definitely recommend adding it to the list. That said, I think we’ll transition to the duck tub now that he sits so well!

I have the Primo Eurotub – it is huge but I do like how versatile it is. That said, we’re currently not using it since my LO keeps trying to climb out of it. I expect that we’ll revisit this tub when she turns two.

We used #10 (puj tub) and loved it. Around 4 months we transitioned into the regular bath using #4 and had no problem with it. At 6 months my son was sitting up under his own support so we just let him sit in the regular tub with our hands on him. I don’t like clutter and storing big things so those were great tubs for us.

I had to have a Puj, barely used it, it’s hanging on the wall in my bathroom. Probably one of my buying regrets!
We use a great system, the tub is braced on the rim of the tub in a metal stand so I don’t have to bend over to bathe LO. The only thing that would have made it better was if it came with a mesh sling for newborns, but I didn’t know about those this time last year!

The tub we purchased for $6 and was recommended by a daddy-friend of mine is one of my favorite baby items. The Saftey 1st Bath Cradle is a simple light-weight metal frame covered in an dries-in-minutes mesh sleeve. It’s easy to wash and kept my son happy in the tub from newborn till he insisted on sitting on his own. Just wanted to add that to your list!

We have #2 and used it until LO was 8-months, then she wanted to stand all the time and it got too cramped for her so I started bathing with her. Now at 12-months she has transitioned into an adult bath and does just fine!

I like the look of the puj tub but dont like how you gotta keep the water running since it doesnt seem to hold much water. I think that would waste more water. After doing lots of research we decided to buy the fisherprice Whale of a tub and once the baby comes I’ll report back how we like it
