Charlie loved chomping on teethers, but I think we were lucky that teething didn’t really seem to bother him all that much except for his molars. We tried many a teether from 3 months when Charlie started drooling. These include some of his favorites!
1) Green Sprouts Infinity Teether Rattle; 2) Sophie the Giraffe; 3) Ringley Knotted Teething Toy; 4) Little Alouette Giraffe Wood Teether; 5) Toysmith Teether Ball; 6) Philips Avent Front Teeth Teether; 7) Learning Curve Massaging Action Teether; 8) Inspired by Finn Baltic Amber Teething Necklace; 9) Sassy Flutterby Teether
You can’t go wrong with Sophie the Giraffe, and she was definitely Charlie’s favorite teether. He also loved the Green Sprouts Infinity Rattle, the Philips Avent Front Teeth Teether, the Learning Curve Massaging Teether, and the Sassy Flutterby Teether when it was chilled in the freezer. For many babies a cold cloth like the Ringley Knotted Teether works best — Charlie definitely liked chewing on his soft toys. And while wood teethers were not Charlie’s favorite, they’re a great natural option for your little one. We never tried a baltic amber teething necklace, but many moms swear by them, and it might be something we try with Olive.
What are some of your LO’s favorite teethers?

Nuby has some nice soft and hard teethers that little man has taken a liking to. Also the Tommee Tippee Chewthers are fun. His favorite by far though is his paci. He doesn’t suck on it but he chews like crazy (just the basic soother paci).

We have Sophie and it’s really funny to see our Sophie next to a new Sophie- the colors are so faded from all the baby slobber!

Just to clarify for those that may not know, the baltic amber teething necklaces are not for chewing on and should be purchased in a short enough length that the baby cannot get the necklace into his or her mouth. The oils from the amber and succinic acid released from the amber are absorbed into the skin and have natural pain relief properties.
We used one for my son and it certainly didn’t hurt. I don’t think we saw an actual difference but some people are more sensitive and some people are less sensitive so I think it is worth trying.

It seems like everyone uses Sophie the Giraffe. But the reviews on Amazon really scared me away from this toy. Are others aware of those reviews? Kids almost choking on the legs? (found by reading the one star reviews) Any experiences w/ it being dangerous? It hasn’t been recalled or anything but it seems so dangerous.

I think on every parent blog I read they have a Sophie.

@pelikila: i will clarify that in my post. thanks!
@Adrena: wow i never knew sophie had such bad reviews! we had nothing but positive experiences with sophie. charlie could chew up on her for up to an hour. i’d still give olive a sophie, but I’d keep her in my sights.

@Adrena: A kid could choke on just about anything, including their own fingers. It is why all toys and other objects should be used with supervision. I take reviews with a grain of salt. Sophie is a big hit in our house but I can understand if someone else chooses not to use one.

Amber necklaces were on BabySteals yesterday! so excited for my LO to wear it. It’s definitely drooling time over here and the necklace is adorable!
In addition to Sophie, we also loved Combi teethers with our first LO. they come in different stages with the first one designed to help one wean away from paci use. I love that they all came with cases to store and carry teethers around in your diaper bag.

I’ve registered for sophie & have picked up a couple of wooden teethers. I’ll also probably end up getting one of those amber necklaces.

Mavi loves teethers that were cold (we would put in the freezer for a short while) I guess the cold was soothing.
